(WS) SITU Trains With SASS!
Attn: Gentlemen in particular!  SITU has been invited to a special presentation by the Single Action Shooting Society ("Cowboy Shooting" - Ladies, don't get any ideas!) to view reproductions of historical pistols, shotguns/rifles.  If we have at least 10 of us signed up.  Mr. "Jess Ducky" will show us how to target shoot at the Renton Gun Range after work.  Interest?  Not limited to gentlemen, so bring your sweetie! 

**Special request:  Come with ear protection and safety glasses (avail at Depot and Lowe's).

(UCE) SITU Summer Event:  "Summer By The Sea"
Attire: 1880-1910
Address: Edmonds City Park
Time: Noon to 4:30ish
Price: , FREE!
Summer-time weather harkens back to a slower rhythm and pace in one's day, lighter clothing, eating alfresco, and lots of enjoyment of good company!
Come dressed in your late Victorian or early Edwardian summer fashions.  Swimming costumes are also acceptable.
Bring your picnic lunch around noon and then at 3pm, we'll be treated to the talents of the Gothard Sisters, an Irish musical family.  Contact:

(DUO) Gold Bar, "Gold Dust Parade"
Want to spend a fun morning in a small town?  Lady V and friends are heading for the tiny town of Gold Bar to participate in their Centennial Celebrations and parade.  The town is located just outside of Monroe.  We're all dressing in 1910 looking attire, men and women. 

Gentlemen, you'll want to wear a "Boater" or "Bowler" hat for this parade.  Ladies, a long straight skirt, tall collared blouse, large hat would be appropriate.

(DUO) English Speaking Union (ESU) Garden Party.  This year, festivities will be held at the Raisbeck Estate in Seward Park.  The gathering is an annual event for the ESU to raise funds for the Shakespeare Scholarship.  There's even a fancy hat competition with prizes to be awarded. (DUO) "Ladies Who Lunch" (Dutch treat)  Remember the old F&N (downtown Seattle) experience?  Well, here's a Dress-up Opportunity for those who enjoy more contemporary costuming, say 1930-1959.  We'll be treated to a special presentation and tour by Nordstrom to view part of their vintage shoe collection, followed by a lunch in the "Grill" restaurant downstairs.  LIMITED ATTENDANCE so be sure you register early!

Love vintage vehicles?  Love vintage style clothing? (WS) Bead Embroidery as Costume Embellishment, 1-4pm University Branch Library. You've admired beaded embellishment on costumes and have always wanted to learn how to do it yourself...Here's your chance to learn! Join Karen, a long-time beading teacher and costume enthusiast, as she shows you the techniques of bead embroidery and design. She'll bring samples of her work particular to the Tudor era/Renaissance to stir your creativity for your "Tudor Family Reunion" costume planning. "Stage Door Canteen"
You will NOT want to miss this one!  This will be your big opportunity of the year for dancing to a big band (13 pieces!) called "Men in Black", lead by Phil Wilkinson as conductor.  There will be refreshments, snacks and desserts, just like in old-time USO's and the hall will be decorated to recall yesteryear.

(DUO) Autumn Leaf Festival,
Grande Parade - Leavenworth
Calling all enthusiastic and fun folks who enjoy historical costuming!  SITU plans to be in the parade again this year.  We strongly encourage all our newer members and friends to join us for the day, especially the men!

(DUO) "Monster Mash" - Beyond Reality Costumer's Guild invites you to our legendary Fall Event!  As costumers, we get really busy at Halloween time, so we celebrate the season a bit early.

When/Where:   6-11pm at the Queen Anne Christian Church, 1316-3rd Ave West, Seattle.

Bring:  We have a pot luck dinner, with music and dancing, games, contests (food and costume contests for certain and maybe much more!), prizes and maybe even a hands-on crafty project.

The program will represent the years 1825 to 1850, the years of fur trading, the Hudson's Bay Company, and the beginnings of a little town called New Market which would later be called Tumwater.  Looking for costumers who can costume to the era.

(ED) "Beginning Sewing", or The "Not For Sewing Aficionados Beginning Sewing"!
Check your calendar - Lady Victoria will be teaching a simplified sewing Workshop on Oct 10th at the Beacon Hill Library.  If you want to come, you'll need to register by sending her an email.

Class is limited to 10 participants!

You'll learn the basics of straight line sewing, how to hem and how to sew on a hook-and-eye closure, all in one day.  Check out the web page for details....

(Du-Op) Vintage Train Ride!  Hop the vintage train with a potluck item, your picnic basket, a sense of fun and let's go enjoy Lake Whatcom and the fall scenery!  Details are still be hammered out, but it should be affordable.

(Du-Op) Theodore Roosevelt Association -  It's a "meet & greet" with a Roosevelt relative on the 100' level of the Space Needle!  Drinks.  Snacks.  Live music (provided by SITU's own Candice Brown's "Combo DeLuxe" !

If SITU members & friends come dressed in 1903, 1911 or 1912 fashion, we are allowed to purchased discounted tickets at $50.

(DUO) Seattle's Christmas Ships - Last year, SITU and friends greeted the Christmas ships as they came thru the Montlake Cut near MOHAI.  This year, we'll go back to the same location!

We'll meet at Miss Loveday & Fred's residence, then stroll over to the museum's dock in preparation for greeting the ship.

This is FREE. Come dressed in festive attire!  Wear fur!  Wear a colorful hat that will show up in the semi-darkness!  Wear white or light colored gloves to wave! Afterwards, we' go back to the house for coffee or something warm to drink and share bites of goodies everyone can bring.

(DUO) Annual Holiday Tour of Homes & Designer Showcase - It's time to hop the ferry to visit our sister association's holiday gathering in Port Townsend!  Homes should be beautifully decked out and we can come in our wonderful holiday-esque Victorian/Edwardian attire.

(DUO) Snohomish's Victorian Christmas Parlour Tour
Attire: Daywear 1850-1912
Once again, the Snohomish Historical Society has invited SITU members to come thru the homes on holiday display. If you wish to be "comp'd" a ticket, then you will need to contact Lady V to make arrangements.  Gentlemen are certainly welcome!

What to wear? Civil War Era gown (little hard to get around), Bustle Era attire, Early Edwardian attire.  Top it all off with a stylish hat and fur! Gentlemen, here's a chance to wear that beautiful top hat you own (or want to own), dark slacks (no tennis shoes or jeans please), long coat (maybe a wool one that you snagged affordably at Goodwill?) or a fur coat.

We'll wander thru all the beautiful homes, pause for photos with the general public, be friendly ambassadors of the SHS while we stroll through the small stores in town.  It's GREAT fun!

We'll head south to Tacoma for Tea at a BEAUTIFUL Victorian mansion, all decked out for the holidays.  Then, it's off to see the Tacoma Revels (Play) present their Christmas production.

   c) Tea & A Play
