Did you hear the news that SITU is putting
the educational wing of SITU’s

“Design Studios” and “Workshops” together as
SITU - University?

“SITU-U” is pleased to present the following Workshop:

“The Not For Sewing Aficionados”, Beginning Sewing

or the

“I-Took-Home-Dec-10+ Yrs-Ago-And-I’ve-Slept-Since-Then”, Beginning Sewing

Heard on sigh of the wind, SITU University has become aware of the need to offer the most simple beginner instructions for basic sewing techniques to learn to sew.   Are you one of those in need?

What you’ll learn:

·        How to lay out the test pattern in class

·        How to pin and cut out the pattern

·        How to straight-line sew

·        How to finish the test garment’s hem

·        How to sew on a hook and eye closure

·        To have confidence to sew a walking skirt

What to bring:

Pins!  Try buying red “silk pins”.  They have a GLASS head.

A needle or two for hand sewing.

A “good” pair of scissors. (Don’t bring the old paper scissors.)

A sewing machine.

Borrow one, or pull out the one your Mom gave you.

Get someone to check & present the tension for you.
(Maybe Pac Fabrics or a sewing repair place?)

There are inexpensive old machines on Craigslist.com

Lady V will bring her old machine for those without to share if absolutely necessary.

White spool of thread. (Or bright color if you can’t see well.)

Your “readers” for close up work.

Something to drink.

What’ll be provided:

Pattern

Printed set of directions

Fabric to cut out

Verbal instruction

Who will be the guest instructor for this session?
Why, Lady Victoria herself!

Yes, this Workshop will be a laid-back affair, so leave your anxieties at home.  Tentatively, the date is set for Oct 10th from 1 - 4:45pm at the Beacon Hill Library.  We’ll have to limit the class size to 10 people, men or women, so you will get one-on-one help.

We’ll snuggle in on an Autumn Sunday afternoon at the library’s meeting room and suddenly the mysteries of sewing will be revealed to your adult mind.  Just watch.  The magic of the Sewing Bug will bite you….

Come on, take a chance.  You have nothing to lose but 4 hours of your time. (wink)
